Glass Bottle
Vidal Icewine VQA 2005 $17 $51
Lailey, Niagara-on-the-Lake 2oz 200ml
Bronze Medal winner at the Ontario Wine Awards. Icewine is made by allowing grapes to freeze on the vine abd then picked and pressed while the juice is still frozen. This wine, made from 100% Vidal grapes, was also aged in older oak barrels to give it an extra level of complexity and richness. The result is a luscious rich wine with aromas and flavours of ripe apricot, mandarin, honey, sponge toffee, and caramel. Match with fruit desserts, as well as chocolate, especially dark chocolate.
Niersteiner Rehbach Riesling Auslese 2003 $75
Weingut Eugen Wehrheim, Rheinhessen, Germany 750ml
From a top estate in the Rheinhessen, that dates back to 1673: the current, no-frills operation, is managed by top winemaker, Klaus Wehrheim. The term “Auslese” refers to the ripeness of the grapes at harvest (Auslese means “special selection”). The must from these grapes has a higher potential alcohol but because the fermentation was stopped early some residual sugar is left in the wine. This doesn’t mean it is as sweet as icewine however, and in fact the balancing acidity makes it appear more off-dry than sweet. The aromas and flavours are of ripe peaches and apricots, with notes of quince and delicate white flowers. A great wine to offset richer appetizers like foie gras, or to complement white meat dishes like pork and veal. With dessert, it works with fruit-based dishes like
flans or pies, particularly if the fruits are stone-fruits like peaches or apricots.
Framboise NV $7 $20

Sweet and rich, with aromas and flavours of fresh raspberries – you think you are drinking raspberries – and notes of cassis. Think local and match with dark chocolate desserts.
Ten-Year-Old Tawny Port $8 $80
2oz 750ml
Taylor, Fladgate & Yeatman, Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal
This fortified wine is called “Tawny port” because of the distinctive colour that
results from being aged in large oak casks for a minimum of 10 years before release.
It is warm, elegant, and smooth with subtle vanilla-wood aromas and flavours over notes
of caramel, toffee, and orange peel. A perfect after-dinner drink – match with dark
chocolate or coffee-flavoured desserts
